Welcome Home to Irvine: A Neighborhood Guide Part 1

Being the new kid in town can be intimidating, but when that town is a beautiful, welcoming, friendly place like Irvine, it makes things a whole lot easier! We at Legacy Skyloft are so excited to integrate ourselves into this vibrant community and make our mark on the lives of our residents and those around us. We want to offer ourselves as a helpful resource to others who might be new to the area. So we are doing the leg work and getting to know the ins and outs of Irvine to help you find what you are looking for. And maybe you’ll find some favorite new places you didn’t even know you needed! With that, here is part 1 of our handy guide to Irvine.

Transportation

The most important step of any new adventure is getting there! Irvine is in a perfect centralized location to offer easy access to the best OC has to offer. At Skyloft, we are just minutes away from the 405, 5 and 55 freeways, meaning you can strike out in any direction you desire. You can easily make your way to the sand and waves of Newport Beach, often in less than 15 minutes. Head East with ease to explore the wonders of nature in Limestone Canyon  Regional Park or spend a day on the lake at Irvine Lake. Or hop on the 5 and spend a night on the town up in LA or down south in San Diego. With readily available access to OC’s biggest freeways, nothing is out of reach!

If you are looking to travel a little farther, John Wayne Airport (SNA) is just minutes away, lending ease of movement and facilitating a fun, jet-setting lifestyle for Skyloft residents. Whether you are taking a trip or have guests coming to visit, think of John Wayne airport as our own personal airport! For those looking to keep their feet on the ground, the Irvine Transportation Center is just a short ride away and offers inexpensive train and bus rides to dozens of destinations, all without the hassle of Southern California traffic.

Dining Out

Irvine offers a rich tapestry of culinary delights to please all palates. Fans of cuisines from around the Pacific Rim can find all kinds of East Asian delicacies at Diamond Jamboree, a massive complex that bills itself as Orange County’s International Eatertainment Destination. Almost two dozen eateries await you, from boba tea shops to sushi bars to fine dining options. Discover elegant dining and beautiful art at Bistango, irvine’s premier wine bar and art exhibitor. For the sustainability-minded diner, Twenty Eight Restaurant offers a farm-to-table experience with locally sourced foods and delicious hand-crafted cocktails.  And of course there are all the Southern California favorites, like In-N-Out Burger, California Pizza Kitchen, and more.

Shopping

OC is a treasure trove of shopping possibilities. Get down to some serious retail therapy at the sprawling Irvine Spectrum Center, an enormous outdoor shopping complex with more than 150 stores to scout out. They offer a wide range of selections, from Lucky Brand and Lululemon to Nordstrom and Apple and everything in between. You could spend a day at the Spectrum Center and never run out of places to explore.

Even closer to us is the largest shopping center on the entire west coast, the South Coast Plaza. This gigantic shopping destination has 2.8 million square feet of retail, with more than 270 stores. It is like an entire city dedicated to designer brands and entertainment. South Coast Plaza is home to several luxury brands like Zara, Chloé, Rolex, and more. Here you’ll find the Rodeo Drive of OC, and it’s all just an exit away on the 405!
