Orange County has so much to offer in the way of entertainment and excitement. Irvine is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds. With more than 16,000 acres of parks, nature preserves, and dedicated open space, it is a paradise for campers, hikers, bikers, bird watchers, and nature lovers. There are miles of hiking and biking paths throughout Irvine and the surrounding area. It truly is a natural wonderland.
Irvine is also home to multiple museums, including Pretend City Children’s Museum and the Irvine Museum. At Pretend City, interactive exhibits and activities help teach children how the real world works. In the Irvine Museum, art lovers can experience breathtaking works that celebrate the beauty of California, created by world renowned artists.
The Orange County Great Park is another classic Irvine destination for all. This massive park, set on the former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, is one of the true highlights of the city. Sports fans can play their games on one of the 12 baseball and softball fields, 13 soccer/Lacrosse fields, championship stadium where OC’s professional soccer team plays, five sand volleyball courts, 25 tennis courts, and 4 NHL size ice rinks. There are also fun activities for family visitors, like the Great Park Carousel, or the most famous part of the park, the Great Park Balloon. This huge helium balloon takes passengers up to 400 feet in the air, giving unparalleled views of up to 40 miles in any direction! Plus, take advantage of the many concerts, farmers’ markets, and other events Orange County Great Park has to offer.
