There’s really no better feeling than having a “go-to” cafe. You know, the one where you walk in on a Monday morning and the barista knows your latte order and has your warm, handmade croissant ready to go. Well, lucky for all of us here at Skyloft, Ellie’s Table has a brand new location at The Boardwalk office space in Irvine. And in case you haven’t already checked out Irvine’s newest neighbors, considering it only opened a few weeks ago, we’ll cover all there is to know about this new local favorite!
Everyone loves a happily ever after, and that’s basically the story behind Ellie’s Table. It all started when Jay and Eleanor Mastroianni met while working at a small cafe in Rochester, P.A. They married in 1953, and the husband and wife duo started a small catering business out of their home in 1967, after Jay’s mother shared some of her classic Italian recipes with Eleanor. You might recognize their catering business, Jay’s Catering, considering it is one of the most well-known caterers in Orange County. You’ll notice some of the classic dishes that Eleanor was taught from Jay’s mother on the menu at Ellie’s Table (such as the famous cinnamon rolls and potato salad).
More than just a slogan, “Happiness is Homemade” is also the inspiration behind the delicious menu you’ll find at the Ellie’s Table at Egan House in San Juan, and now, here in the new Irvine cafe. The talented chefs and bakers at Ellie’s Table have found a delicate balance of paying tribute to the family’s traditionally inspired cuisine, while also intertwining creative twists to the classics. The entire menu at Ellie’s Table is made fresh from scratch every day, with a wide variety of dietary accommodations such as gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options! And while we love everything on the menu, the butter croissant has been the recent talk of the town and is Ellie’s house specialty, so when you go, be sure to give it a try.
Appealing to the local foodies and Instagram aesthetic-seekers here in Irvine, this new Ellie’s Table location checks all of the boxes when it comes to a beautiful modern dining experience. With floor to ceiling windows that invite natural light to flow throughout the cafe, complimented by a 2-acre, coastal-inspired courtyard, brunch-goers will find it hard to leave. Not only is the location beautiful, but the food is too! The refreshing and modern environment was made with Irvine’s trendy lifestyle in mind, while the homemade taste was made for the local tourist in all of us.
Welcome Ellie’s Table to the neighborhood and swing by for a bite to eat from their delicious menu, and to see the beautiful location for yourself! While you’re there, share your experience with us on Instagram and Facebook, and keep following the blog here to stay in the loop with other local Orange County happenings and nearby restaurants.
