Orange County is bringing back one of America’s favorite pastimes this summer with a fun twist to their traditional events. Spend your summer nights under the stars with movies and concerts in the park during the Irvine Summer Drive-In Series, each Saturday in August at the Orange County Great Park.
Pack the Yeti cooler with your favorite drinks and snacks, or plan to purchase treats from gourmet food trucks, grab some pillows and blankets, and get ready to safely enjoy your summer as a community! Space for this special event series is limited, and guests are required to register online in advance. No need to worry about the price, because admission is free! However, due to the limited space available, these events are only open to Irvine residents. Tickets will be available at yourirvine.org, starting Wednesday, July 1st!
Pick the perfect spot to park your car and roll the windows down to listen through amplified sound or tune-in from the car radio via a special FM station posted for the events. The Movie Gates open at 6:45 PM and the movie will begin after sunset. The drive-in will be set up in Parking Lot 2 at the Orange County Great Park. For August Concert nights, the Gates open at 4:30 PM and the music starts at 5:30 PM!
To help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the City of Irvine has taken precautionary measures and modified recreational programming for the summer. The Summer Drive-In Series is modified to bring the community together while safely following social distance guidelines. On Saturday, August 1, enjoy the first live concert of the series by Southland Mega Groove, a variety band that will take you on a musical journey through the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s — all the way to today! There will also be an intermission performance by Irvine High School Youth Team Akustikoff finalists Haley Tran & Nathan Nguyen.

On Saturday, August 8, enjoy an outdoor screening of The Secret Life of Pets 2. The Secret Life of Pets 2 is rated PG and will be set up at the drive-in location in Parking Lot 2 at the Great Park.

On Saturday, August 15, enjoy the second live concert of the series by Tijuana Dogs. This popular Orange County band will have you up and dancing the entire time with its high-energy party rock music.

On Saturday, August 29, enjoy the last live concert of the Summer Drive-In Series by Yachty by Nature, a six-piece band that brings you the finest in groovy soft yacht rock from the late ’70s and early ’80s. The last concert also features an intermission performance by Irvine High School Youth Team Akustikoff winner Ana Carvalho.
